VOLVO TO LAY OFF UP TO 100 WORKERS AT ITS HAGERSTOWN PLANT

The Volvo Group’s engine and transmission plant in Hagerstown is planning to lay off 50 to 100 workers. According to corporate spokesperson John Mies, heavy-duty truck orders continue to be negatively affected by market uncertainty about freight rates and demand, possible regulatory changes, and the impact of tariffs. The Hagerstown plant currently employs around 18-hundred people and the last day for those being placed on the “indefinite layoff” will be May 2nd.
