MD. REPRESENTATIVES REACT TO HOUSE PASSAGE OF THE SAVE ACT

Maryland Representatives are reacting to the U.S. House passage of the SAVE Act, mandating proof of citizenship for federal voter registration. Andy Harris, the state’s lone Republican in Congress says in a statement that certain states are exploiting loopholes to allow noncitizen voting in federal elections and the SAVE Act will close the loopholes and ensure that only American citizens are voting. Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin says House Republicans just passed their “stupid SAVE Act” which he calls an outrageous voter suppression bill that would make it harder to register to vote.  Four Congressional Democrats joined the GOP in passing the measure and sending it to the Senate.
