Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown has joined more than a dozen other attorneys general to defend two major ATF actions that protect the ban on Forced Reset Triggers and expanded criminal background checks for gun purchases. Brown says the FRT machine gun conversion devices have been frequently used in violent crimes and mass shootings, and they worsen the gun violence epidemic. He also defends the ATF’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act which requires gun dealers then to enforce criminal background checks for their buyers and to keep records of the sales to help law enforcement solve crimes. Brown says without the licensing requirements, felons and others prohibited from buying weapons will have more avenues to illegally purchase a firearm.
