HOUSE MINORITY LEADER BUCKEL ENTERS ALFORD PLEA IN D.U.I. CASE

Maryland House Minority Leader Jason Buckel has entered an Alford, plea after being charged with DUI in a Cumberland traffic stop.  Buckel acknowledged there was enough evidence for a conviction without admitting guilt. The judge offered Buckel probation before judgment and supervised probation for two years.  He must also undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and complete any recommended treatment.  The Allegany County Republican was stopped by Maryland State Police in June and in addition to the DUI he was charged with driving on a suspended license, negligent driving and failure to display registration card.
