Governor Josh Shapiro was in Allentown Thursday to announce a new state program to help sites become “shovel ready” for development. He says the nearly 11-million-dollars set aside for the projects will help sell the Commonwealth to companies that can create jobs and spur the state economy. Those include the Allentown Commercial and Industrial Development Authority. The group has been given over a million dollars to pay for utility extensions that will be part of a 50-thousand-square-foot industrial facility. The funds will help run water, sewer, and natural gas lines about a half mile from the existing city lines to the proposed site.
