U.S. HOUSE PASSES SUMMER LEE BILL ON ABANDONED OIL AND GAS WELLS

A new, federally-funded measure would let the U.S. Department of Energy set new data guidelines on abandoned wells. The bill, co-sponsored by Pennsylvania U.S. Representative Summer Lee, says there are 350-thousand of these wells unaccounted for in Pennsylvania alone. Lee says capping abandoned wells can run as much as 100-thousand-dollars per well. The Abandoned Wells, Remediation, Research and Development Act is the first piece of legislation sponsored by Democrat Lee to pass the full House.
