FORMER PRISONERS COULD GET HELP REINTEGRATING WITH PROPOSED BILL

A proposed law would help former state prisoners get back into society. The state House has passed a bill that would make it easier for people leaving prison to get a photo ID and work permits. Most Republicans voted against the bill. Democratic State Representative Emily Kinkead says it’s easier for former prisoners to re-enter society and get good jobs if they have the proper tools to do so. She also says having such resources helps former inmates be less likely to return to prison.
