MDTA POLICE OFFICERS HONORED FOR BRAVERY DURING BRIDGE COLLAPSE

During the third inning of the Orioles Opening Day game at Camden Yards, three Maryland Transportation Authority Police Officers were honored for their bravery during the Key Bridge collapse. Governor Wes Moore says Sgt. Paul Pastorek, Corporal Jeremy Herbert and Officer Garry Kirts are Maryland heroes and their courage, bravery and quick-thinking saved lives. The first responders stopped traffic from getting on to the span after the container ship that struck the bridge issued a “mayday.”  In a statement, Pastorek, Herbert and Kirts say they were proud to carry out their duties as officers of the state, to save the lives that they could.
