The findings of a new report say black and brown students are subjected to discrimination and harassment more often on state university campuses. A new report by the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission was compiled through on-campus interviews with students and alumni over a 20-month time period. Democratic state Senator Art Haywood requested the study. He says it shows that PASSHE college presidents from Pennsylvania schools in the state system need to adopt a code of conduct on racial harassment. He also wants schools to develop a reporting system that would allow students to get quick responses from campus leaders, as well as to continue to develop retention programs to increase graduation rates for students of color.
