The number of people filing first-time jobless claims is lower in Maryland. The U.S. Labor Department reports about 27-hundred initial claims for unemployment benefits were filed for the week ending January 27th. That’s a decrease of about 230 from the previous week. Nationally, initial claims rose by nine-thousand, to 224-thousand.
