Maryland’s Comptroller says planned upgrades to the state’s tax systems began at 5:00 yesterday afternoon and will continue until February 5. Brooke Lierman says the upgrades will temporarily affect some services but the launch of Maryland Tax Connect will simplify tax filing, improve communication, and give business taxpayers greater autonomy in the long term. Individual tax returns can still be filed electronically while the upgrades are being made, but customer service representatives will not be able to review information specific to accounts or tax filings.
