MOSBY FOUND GUILTY OF PERJURY

Former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby is guilty of lying to obtain funds to purchase real estate.  A federal jury today convicted Marilyn Mosby on two counts of perjury.  She was charged with making false statements to obtain a COVID-19 hardship withdrawal from a city retirement account to buy Florida vacation homes.  Mosby’s defense claimed the pandemic resulted in losses for her travel business and she was legally allowed to withdraw the money.  Prosecutors said Mosby’s business was not operational at the time, and had no clients, so there was no hardship.  She faces up to five years in federal prison on each of the two perjury counts.  Mosby also faces a second trial on federal mortgage fraud charges.
