JUDICIARY MEETS TO DISCUSS CRACKDOWN ON JUVENILE CRIME

Members of the Maryland House Judiciary Committee met yesterday to again consider ways to reform laws that some say are too lax on juvenile offenders.  Lawmakers are expected to focus on two sets of laws that are driving their frustrations — the Juvenile Justice Reform Act and the Child Interrogation Protection Act.  Those expected to testify include members of the state Attorney General’s Juvenile Justice Monitoring Unit and the Juvenile Justice Reform Council.
