PA. ANTI-BULLYING BILL OF RIGHTS PROPOSED IN STATE HOUSE

A bill under consideration in the state House would make parents of school bullies more accountable for their kids’ actions. Representative Frank Burns’s House Bill 1778 titled the “Pennsylvania Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights,” would fine parents up to 750-dollars and possibly assess community service.  It would also require schools to notify parents each time their child bullies another child and could also make parents take a class or attend a resolution conference.  The measure also would require schools to designate an anti-bullying specialist and send monthly reports to the state for each verified incident of bullying or cyberbullying. The bill also establishes consequences for teachers who don’t report bullying.
