A new online filing option is now available for non-profits to apply for or renew a Pennsylvania sales tax exemption. Officials at the state Department of Revenue recently launched the online application on myPATH and say it delivers a new, streamlined tool. For the first time, the on-line application allows public charities to avoid paying the state’s six-percent sales tax on purchases made on behalf of a group’s essential needs. Prior to the launch, non-profit organizations were required to submit a paper application form, which had a lengthy turnaround time.
