MARYLAND SETS NEW OYSTER RECORD

Over one-point-seven-billion new oysters have been planted on oyster fishery sites in the Chesapeake Bay.  State officials say that number has surpassed the 2023 planting goal while also setting a new record.  Governor Moore thanked the organizations and DNR staff who helped reach the accomplishment.  State officials have been working hard since 2014 to restore oyster populations in a handful of bay tributaries.
