INTERIM STATE SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT APPOINTED

The Maryland State Board of Education has unanimously appointed an interim state superintendent of schools. Carey Wright will serve for the remainder of the term through June 30. Dr. Wright’s appointment follows the announcement that current Superintendent Mohammed Choudhury will resign October 6 and transition to a senior advisory role. Wright most recently served for nine years as the state superintendent of schools in Mississippi before retiring. Dr. Wright says she is honored to be appointed to the position and she’s excited to work on behalf of the teachers, leaders and students of Maryland.
