Campaign managers for Pennsylvania Republican David McCormick say he’ll announce his candidacy for the U.S. Senate Thursday in Pittsburgh. He’ll challenge U.S. Senator Bob Casey, a Scranton Democrat who will be seeking a fourth six-year term. McCormick is a West Point graduate and former hedge fund CEO who owns a home in Pittsburgh. State Republicans reportedly say he’s their best bet to beat Casey in 2024. Just as in 2022, the Senate Race in Pennsylvania is again expected to be among the most closely-watched in country and could determine which party holds a majority.
