Maryland House Speaker Adrienne Jones is endorsing Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks in her bid for the Democratic nomination for retiring Senator Ben Cardin’s soon-to-be vacant U.S. Senate seat. Jones said when Alsobrooks became the first Black woman elected as a county executive in Maryland, she knew she would do “great things.” Jones is the first Black person and first woman to lead a Maryland General Assembly chamber. Alsobrooks notes she has picked up more than 90 endorsements from community leaders, advocates and lawmakers across Maryland.
