FEDERAL COURT DISMISSES CHALLENGE OF W.V. ABORTION PILL LAW

A federal court judge has dismissed a challenge to a West Virginia law restricting an abortion pill.  Drugmaker GenBioPro filed suit in January, against West Virginia’s restrictions on the abortion drug mifepristone.  The company makes a generic version of the popular medication and argued that West Virginia’s ban and other restrictions have caused it “significant, ongoing economic injury.”  U.S. District Judge Robert Chalmers dismissed GenBioPro’s claims that federal law preempts the West Virginia law.
