West Virginia motor vehicle property tax credit is now a law. All West Virginians who own a vehicle will receive a full dollar-to-dollar refund for personal property taxes. This bill signed into law Wednesday resolves some confusion among taxpayers who choose to pay their property tax bill as soon as they receive it. Now all motor vehicle property taxes due next year but paid in 2023 can be claimed as a credit on a taxpayer’s 2024 income tax return.
