MD. NATURAL RESOURCES OFFERS PRIZES FOR HARVESTING TAGGED SNAKHEAD FISH

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are continuing a tagging program to monitor northern snakeheads. The agencies have put colored tags on 500 of the invasive fish and people who harvest them can pick up ten-dollars for a yellow tag and 200-dollars for a blue one. The DNR says harvesting the snakeheads helps to reduce pressure on the state’s natural resources. Tag numbers can be reported to the Fish and Wildlife Service phone number on the tag and anglers will be asked to email a picture of their tagged snakehead to Maryland DNR.
