MARYLAND APPEALS COURT UPHOLDS SYED’S CONVICTION

A Maryland appeals court is upholding its decision to reinstate Adnan Syed’s conviction and life prison sentence for the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend.  The Appellate Court of Maryland said it was denying a motion by Syed’s lawyers to reconsider its March ruling because it was based on a not previously raised argument.  Syed’s public defender says his defense team will now appeal to the Maryland Supreme Court.  Syed’s case was featured on the popular true-crime podcast “Serial.”
