MD. REPRESENTATIVE INTRODUCES BILL TO RAISE AGE FOR SOME GUN BUYS

Maryland U.S. Representative Glenn Ivey has introduced a measure in the House to raise the legal age for buying certain firearms. The Raise the Age Act would require a person to be at least 21-years-old to buy a semi-automatic rifle.  The Democratic Congressman noted that the suspects in the Uvalde school shooting, the Buffalo Supermarket Slaying and the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy were all under 21-years-old. He says “we should never choose the Second Amendment over Second Graders or ban books in schools instead of banning semi-auto assault rifles in those places of learning.” He says raising the purchase age to 21 will prevent some mass shootings and it’s a good step in the right direction.
