Garrett County is the only jurisdiction in the state to receive a favorable ranking in the American Lung Association’s “State of the Air” report. The report focuses on ozone and particle pollution, and examines 15 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions, four of which received an “F” rating, including Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, and Prince George’s County. Asthma, respiratory infections, lung cancer and heart disease are some of the medical conditions linked to pollution.
