MCGRATH SHOT, KILLED IN TENNESSEE SHOOTING FOLLOWING MANHUNT

The FBI reports former Maryland state aide Roy McGrath is dead following a confrontation with FBI agents last night in Knoxville, Tennessee.  An attorney for McGrath’s wife told the Baltimore Sun the 53-year-old McGrath died from gunshot wounds later at a local hospital.  It’s not clear whether McGrath shot himself or an agent shot him.  McGrath had been on the run for three weeks after he failed to appear for a federal fraud trial March 13th.  He was accused of arranging a huge severance for himself when he left a state-run nonprofit to join the administration and forging documents to make it appear that former Governor Larry Hogan approved.  Upon learning of his death, Hogan issued a statement that read in part: he and his wife are saddened by the tragic situation.
