JUDGE ORDERS RELEASE OF CLERGY SEX ABUSE REPORT

A judge is ordering the public release of a report into the clergy sex abuse scandal rocking the Archdiocese of Baltimore.  Circuit Judge Robert Taylor directed the Maryland Attorney General’s Office to release a redacted version of the report.  It details the alleged sexual abuse of more than 600 children over an 80-year period by nearly 160 priests in the Archdiocese.  Groups opposed to the release have sought to keep it from being made public because it would involve the disclosure of secret grand jury proceedings.  Taylor says he will hold hearings on whether unredacted portions of the report should be made public as well.
