BILLS PASSED TO BREAK UP H.H.S. IN WEST VIRGINIA

The West Virginia House has voted overwhelmingly to approve a bill that would break up the state’s Department of Health and Human Services.  The agency would be split up into three offices — the Department of Health Facilities, the Department of Human Services and the Department of Health — by next year.  It also would feature a stronger inspector general with increased independence.  Critics of the current Department of Health and Human Services call it a hot mess that needs to be fixed to better serve taxpayers.  The bill now moves on to the Senate.
