AMAZON RECALLS POUCHES FOR NALOXONE KITS

The Allegany County Health Department has received notification from Amazon, regarding a recall affecting the zippered mesh pencil cases, which were purchased to package naloxone training materials for distribution to the community. According to a letter received by the Health Department, the pouches may exceed the federal limits for lead and/or cadmium, which contains a defect that presents a substantial product hazard. Amazon advises disposal of the product, and that there is no need to return it. Although the Health Department is disposing of its inventory, some of the kits may have been given out to community members. They are advising the disposal of those products too.
