The West Virginia Senate Judiciary Committee has approved legislation that would limit constitutional officers to three consecutive terms. The resolution would apply to Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, Attorney General, and Commissioner of Agriculture positions beginning after January 1st, 2029. State Treasurer Larry Pack testified in favor of the bill, saying “no one should own an office” and that three terms is enough. A similar resolution passed the Senate in 2021 but failed to advance in the House of Delegates.
