MD. SEX ABUSE SURVIVORS RALLY AT BALTIMORE’S WAR MEMORIAL PLAZA

Maryland survivors of sexual abuse rallied at War Memorial Plaza in Baltimore Wednesday, saying the state failed them when they were in juvenile detention facilities, and they want justice. The survivors shared stories of sexual, physical and emotional abuse by staff members of the facilities, and they demanded accountability from the state. Maryland lawmakers passed the Child Victims Act in 2023 which eliminated the statute of limitations on child sex abuse cases.  Since the law passed an estimated 35-hundred victims have filed lawsuits against the state.
