President Trump has appointed Maryland’s Wes Moore to the Council of Governors. The council was established by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 and formally created by Executive Order in 2010 to serve as a forum for governors and federal officials to collaborate on key national security, disaster response and military coordination issues. Moore will be joined by fellow Democratic governors Kathy Hochul of New York, Josh Stein of North Carolina, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan. Republican governors appointed to the council include Glenn Youngkin of Virginia, Ron DeSantis of Florida, Jeff Landry of Louisiana, Brian Kemp of Georgia and Henry McMaster of South Carolina.
