Funding to design the second phase of the Interstate I-81 widening project is not included in the Maryland Department of Transportation’s five-year budgeting plan. Overall, the plan puts two-billion-dollars worth of projects on hold due to budget shortfalls. According to the Herald-Mail, Maryland state Senator Paul Corderman who represents Washington and Frederick counties says it’s extremely disappointing and disheartening to learn that the funding would not be there for the I-81 project. He says it’s a huge signal that Governor Moore and the administration are leaving Western Maryland behind.
