The Award of Excellence in Professional Nursing was presented to 80 nurses from Charleston yesterday. The ceremony held by Charleston Area Medical Center highlighted the work of the nurses and the impact they have on the community. The shortage of nurses remains a major concern across the state, with more than a 26-percent turnover rate, and nearly a vacancy rate of 20-percent.
