CLOSING ARGUMENTS EXPECTED TODAY IN MOSBY TRIAL

Closing arguments are expected today in the federal mortgage fraud trial of former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby.  The prosecution and defense rested their cases Thursday after two days of testimony from Mosby who claimed her ex-husband — City Council President Nick Mosby — was responsible for mismanaging their finances and she was not aware of the extent of their tax problems. Marilyn Mosby is charged with lying on mortgage applications for two Florida vacation homes to hide tax debt and secure a lower interest rate.  In November, she was found guilty on two counts of perjury for falsely claiming a COVID hardship to withdraw city pension funds to buy the properties. Sentencing will take place after the conclusion of the mortgage fraud trial.
