Claiming the jury returned an “inconsistent” verdict in March, former Somerset County District Attorney Jeff Thomas had been hoping for an acquittal or retrial. That motion was denied Wednesday. Although he was found not guilty on the most serious charges against him, he was convicted of six other counts. Thomas was sentenced in August to serve 27 to 84 months in prison for an assault conviction. The former District Attorney has 30 days to appeal that sentence to the State’s Superior Court.
