SENTENCING
Former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby will stand trial on federal mortgage fraud charges before she is sentenced for her perjury conviction. During a Monday teleconference, U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby told attorneys she will send them potential dates for the mortgage which is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2024. According to the Baltimore Sun, Mosby’s attorneys told the judge they wanted to move forward with the mortgage trial and have a combined sentencing. Last week a jury found Mosby guilty of lying about a COVID hardship to withdraw money from a city retirement account to buy two Florida vacation homes. The mortgage trial deals with Mosby’s alleged false statements on loan applications for the homes.
