Allegany County will buy the former FedEx building in lower LaVale for $1.1 million. The purchase was approved during the most recent Allegany County Commissioners meeting. Fed Ex agreed to build a new distribution center in the Mexico Farms area, and it opened late last year. County officials are considering the creation of the Allegany County Food and Beverage Manufacturing at the former site, which would provide space for storage, packing, distribution and some manufacturing.
