FEDERAL GRANT TO MAKE RAILROAD IMPROVEMENTS

Nearly 20-million dollars from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be spent to upgrade a West Virginia short line railroad.  The upgrades along the Appalachia and Ohio Railroad will include tie work, welded rail improvements, and work inside three tunnels along a nine-mile section of the 158-mile rail line.  Also, six locomotives will undergo an overhaul to meet new emission standards.
