SENATE COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS CANDIDATE FOR PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSION

Senate lawmakers will host a public hearing today to consider a new leader for the state’s Public Utility Commission. The agency provides oversight for essential infrastructure including utilities, natural gas, pipelines and some transportation modes. Kimberly Barrow is the Shapiro administration-nominee whose candidacy will be discussed. She is currently the chief of staff for the PUC commissioner’s office and supporters say she has a wide background in the sectors the agency oversees as well as consumer protection. The public hearing starts at 12:30 and also will be live-streamed on the state senate website.
