The Environmental Services Division of the Garrett County Health Department is reporting the first case of laboratory-confirmed rabies for the year. The case occurred near the Friendsville area, where a raccoon attacked a person. Positive rabies results were received on the raccoon on August 15th. Pet owners are urged to check the vaccination status of their dogs, cats, and ferrets. Garrett County is in the process of putting together a number of dates for rabies clinics there.
