West Virginia University has announced its recommendations for 32 majors to be discontinued. Some professors are in shock because entire departments could potentially disappear. Early estimates suggest 169 faculty members will no longer have jobs when it’s all said and done. A university spokesperson said about 430 graduate and undergraduate students will be affected by the program reductions. Some deans and professors said they’re going to fight the recommendations but only have less than two weeks to file a notice of intent to appeal. An information session for students and families will be held August 17th.
