PA. LAWMAKER PROPOSES BETER PET CUSTODY AGREEMENTS

Legislation being proposed in the Pennsylvania House will clarify factors for judges who are deciding who gets custody of a couple’s pets in divorce cases. In a memo seeking co-sponsors, Representative Anita Kulik of Allegheny County says she’s seen too many cases – as an attorney – where the parties couldn’t agree on the best arrangements for a beloved pet. The bill would also let the parties enter an enforceable agreement for a companion animal outside of a divorce decree.
