The number of Marylanders filing first-time claims for unemployment benefits fell by more than 800 last week. The U.S. Labor Department reports more than 17-hundred claims were filed in the week ending April 15th. That’s down from the previous week’s revised total of over 25-hundred. The state and metropolitan area unemployment rates for the month of March are due to be released on Friday.
