The Garrett County Commissioners are asking to control the money for trail projects, and abandon the proposal from the Department of Natural Resources, which would have included development along the Youghiogheny River area. During the 2022 General Assembly session, $4.7 million was earmarked for a critical maintenance program for trails along the state protected Wild Youghiogheny in Garrett County, including $700,000 to the Garrett County Commissioners. Another public meeting will be held in Garrett County to discuss the proposal and the funding.
