O.C. URGES STATE, FEDERAL OFFICIALS TO HALT WIND FARM

Ocean City’s Mayor and City Council are again urging state and federal officials to put offshore wind farm development on hold following the death of another whale along the East Coast.  Mayor Rick Meehan says Ocean City supports clean and renewable energy, however the town remains concerned about the impact the projects may already be having on the environment.  First District U.S. Congressman Andy Harris agrees and is repeating his call for a moratorium on offshore projects, tweeting “Doesn’t the Biden Administration care about the whales?” Over the past few months around 20 whales have been found dead along the East Coast. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration maintains there are no documented cases of whale deaths linked to offshore wind projects.
