The U.S. Geological Survey says a 2.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded off of the Atlantic Coast near the Maryland-Virginia border Wednesday night. The quake struck about 18 miles east of the shoreline at 8:21 p.m. at a depth of 11-point-2 kilometers or close to seven miles. It was around 19-miles from Chincoteague, Virginia. The USGS says the quake may not have been felt, but was recorded by a seismograph.
