DEMOCRATS TO CONTROL PA. HOUSE, END G.O.P. MAJORITY

Democrats have gained control of the Pennsylvania State House after three special elections Tuesday.  The party’s candidates won all three vacant Pittsburgh-area House seats to claim a slim 102-101 majority over the GOP in the House.  The wins mark the first time in 12 years that Republicans will not solely determine what gets voted on.  Actual votes for House leadership will once again take place when lawmakers return to Harrisburg February 21st.  Republicans still hold a majority in the state Senate.
