POWER RATE INCREASE DENIED IN WEST VIRGINIA

The West Virginia Public Service Commission is not going to allow Wheeling Power and Appalachian Power to raise their rates.  The power companies had asked for approval to pass the cost of fuel onto customers, which could have meant an additional 18-to-20 dollars a month for the average user. The requests for the rate hike were made last April, due to additional fuel costs at the Amos, Mountaineer and Mitchell power plants.
