STUDENT DIES IN STABBING INCIDENT

Seventeen-year-old Saiquan Jenkins, a Fort Hill High School student and Sentinel football player, was the victim of a fatal stabbing yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m., off of school grounds at the alley entrance between Warwick and Williams Streets. Jenkins went back to the school, where medical assistance was immediately provided. A 16-year-old juvenile suspect was taken into custody about 15 minutes later in the 600-block of Maryland Avenue. A pep rally, scheduled for last night was canceled; instead, a prayer vigil was held at Constitution Park. As scheduled for all Allegany County Public Schools, there will be a three-hour early dismissal today. Counselors and other Student Support Staff will be available on-site throughout the day to provide social and emotional support to students.
